Lopez and Fonda became friends while working together on the film “Monster-in-Law” back in 2005. Since then, their bond has only grown stronger. In fact, Lopez even wanted Fonda to be a part of her upcoming documentary “This Is Me Now: A Love Story” because of their close relationship.
During the filming of the documentary, Fonda expressed two concerns to the couple. She told Lopez, “I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work.” According to Variety, Fonda’s concerns mainly revolve around the couple’s public displays of affection. She feels that it’s more about proving something than simply enjoying their relationship, as evidenced by the numerous photos they’ve shared.
Lopez, however, brushed off the comment, stating, “That’s just us going about our lives.” She didn’t let Fonda’s concerns affect her.
Fonda also expressed worry after seeing pictures of Affleck looking unhappy at the 2023 Grammys. She said, “Oh my God, what’s happening? I was really scared because of all the rumors about the Grammys, and he looks unhappy.”
Lopez reassured Fonda that there was nothing wrong with their relationship. Affleck was simply feeling the pressure of being “the symbol of the beleaguered man.”
Despite her critiques, Fonda mentioned that she believes “everyone in the entire world is pulling for this relationship and this love.” She emphasizes that it’s crucial for the couple to handle their relationship in a way that doesn’t overly flaunt it, as it can lead to criticism or resentment from others.
In the end, Fonda’s concerns come from a place of genuine care for her friend Jennifer Lopez. She wants nothing but the best for her, and hopes that their love story will succeed against all odds.
