A heartbreaking incident occurred on June 30, when a family of five lost their lives in a small plane crash. The family had been traveling to upstate New York for a youth baseball tournament, creating beautiful memories together.

However, their journey took a devastating turn when their single-engine Piper Malibu Mirage plane crashed in Masonville, New York, approximately 90 miles southeast of Syracuse.

The victims of this unimaginable tragedy have been identified as Roger Beggs (76), Laura VanEpps (43), Ryan VanEpps (42), James R. VanEpps (12), and Harrison VanEpps (10).

They were a close-knit family from Georgia, returning home after enjoying their time in Cooperstown, New York, where they had experienced the joy and excitement of a baseball tournament. Cooperstown is also known as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Local authorities received reports of a suspected crash around 2 p.m. on Sunday and immediately launched a search operation in the Lake Cecil Road area. With the help of helicopters, drones, and ATVs, the crash site and the downed plane were eventually located.

Roger Beggs, who was also the pilot of the ill-fated plane, had planned to refuel in West Virginia before heading towards Atlanta, Georgia. The precise cause of the crash is yet to be determined, and an investigation involving the FAA, National Transportation Board, and state police is currently underway.
