Just minutes after Princess Kate’s hospitalization for abdominal surgery was announced, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles, 75, will also be hospitalized next week. The King will undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate.

“In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the statement said. “His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will attend the hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”

The King’s decision to make his procedure public was driven by a desire to encourage other men experiencing symptoms to get checked. By sharing his diagnosis, Charles hopes to align with public health advice and raise awareness about the importance of early detection.

Charles will take a short break to recover from the procedure, and public engagements will be postponed for a brief period.

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the United States.
