Spanking as a form of discipline has always been a controversial topic. The American Academy of Pediatrics even states that it is ineffective and harmful for children. However, there are still parents who believe in its value. One such parent is Kelly Clarkson, who recently admitted that she is “not above spanking” her children if they misbehave.

Kelly, a mother of two, River Rose (8) and Remy (6), shared her thoughts during a radio interview. She clarified that she doesn’t condone hitting her children hard, but believes in a gentle spanking to correct their behavior. Surprisingly, this approach is something Kelly herself experienced while growing up in Texas.

“I’m from the South, y’all, so we get spankings,” Kelly revealed. “My parents spanked me, and I turned out just fine. I think it’s a reasonable form of discipline.”

Despite the controversy surrounding her parenting style, Kelly remains steadfast in her decision. She acknowledges that it can be challenging to discipline her children in public without facing judgment. However, she firmly believes that spanking has helped her children understand boundaries and avoid repeated misbehavior.

To ensure transparency and understanding, Kelly always warns her children of the consequences of their actions. Before resorting to spanking, she tells them, “‘Hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now, this is ridiculous!’ And honestly, it’s really helped. She doesn’t do that kind of stuff as often.”

Clarkson, known for her accomplishments as a singer, songwriter, author, and TV personality, recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her unconventional approach to parenting certainly sets her apart, but it also sparks a larger conversation about different parenting styles.

So, what do you think of Kelly Clarkson’s approach? Do you agree with her decision to use spanking as a form of discipline, or do you believe that every parent has the right to choose their own methods? Join the discussion and let us know your thoughts on our Facebook page.
