As Mattie, who lost her first husband in a horrific accident in 2018, put it, “Grateful is a gigantic understatement,”

The daughter of country music icon Alan Jackson, Mattie Jackson, has discovered true happiness.

Eight months after announcing their engagement, Mattie, 32, married fiance Connor Smith, 30, at The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida earlier this month.

“Wooooo, we succeeded! The word ‘grateful’ is a gigantic understatement.” She wrote in the caption of an Instagram photo with a carousel of pictures from the big day, “More pretty pics to come later – off to the islands with my HUSBAND!”

A photo from the wedding was also posted by dad Alan, 64, who wrote on Instagram on Monday that he and his wife Denise were ecstatic to welcome a new son-in-law into the family.

“Connor has joined our family officially, and Denise and I are overjoyed! I send @MattieJackson & Connor Smith my best wishes for eternal bliss. He captioned the picture, “Livin’ on Love!” about his 1994 hit song “Livin’ on Love.”

The good news comes more than four years after Mattie’s first husband, Ben Selecman, passed away from traumatic brain damage after falling on a boat dock and hitting his head in a September 2018 tragedy.

In April 2022, Mattie, the host of the podcast In Joy Life, said that she and Connor were seeing each other after meeting at a happy hour six months earlier through a mutual acquaintance.

At the time, she posted on Instagram, “I have believed, prayed for, and claimed for three and a half years now that God would give me the chance to love someone with my full heart again. Other wonderful widow friends reassured me that my heart could mend and grow to equally and uniquely love two persons. And I fervently hoped that would be the case.”

Smith was “more of an answer to prayer (mine and countless others!) than I sometimes think he even realizes,” she said, adding that she “can’t wait to see what this new chapter holds.”

After saying “I do,” Mattie and Connor traveled to Saint Lucia for their honeymoon, where they “adventured, rested, and drank local beer,” according to a post, she made on Instagram. Mattie was dressed in a strapless dress with an updo.

She wrote in the caption of her Instagram image, “We read, played bocce ball, and shared headphones on the beach so we could listen to the same songs as we did in high school.” “We ate, swam, and loved so wonderfully… I’m so grateful for this wonderful man and our lovely honeymoon.”
